Hot light wont turn off

Test to make sure the Ohms values are correct but it could be possible it's a factory defect.
A factory defect? The car is 41 years old... I have owned it for 5 years. And this just started when the thermostat went bad 2 weeks ago.
 
I was understanding the temp switch was new. If it is the original it might just be time for a new one.
 
A lot of the new stuff is complete junk and DOA out of the box
 
Did you use any sealant on the threads?

unplug the wire at the sender, if the light stays on then you have a problem with the wire like fleming442 suggested
