Its hotunplug the wire at the sender, if the light stays on then you have a problem with the wire like fleming442 suggested

Yesif it is a single wire connector it would not be hot and your PDF diagram shows the dark green wire is not hot. When you unplug the wire to the sender does the temperature light stay on?
