Re: How Much for a decent paint job?

As mentioned before "you get what you pay for" with paint. I have to agree with DRIVEN 3-5k is a decent amount to spend on a decent paint job. I only spent 1,500 for the paint job on my el camino. I wanted something I wouldn't be affraid to drive or park in a parking lot. It will also be used as a work truck so spending 5k on paint that would likely get scratched up just didn't make since. The paint job came out better then expected but has some minor flaws which were expected. My camaro on the other hand will likely get a 5-6k paint job

Re: How Much for a decent paint job?

Well here in michigan most shops even the big ones havent gone to waterborn paint cus its a costly up grade to the booth at it takes alot longer to turn out a job cus it doesnt cure in heat just more air so it cAn take up to three times as long to cure i inquired about this to a ppg rep that came into my school where im taking my classes to get icar cert and a degree in autobody and that was what he told us plus i know quite a few guys around that work in shops that havent touched the stuff its also came up that its harder to match if you dont use watterborn to do a repair .

I'm gonna get some pics tomorrow for you guys to see. I also have to check the wreckers they got two 79s and if their doors are good then I'll buy them instead, way cheaper.

Re: How Much for a decent paint job?

Pics uploaded. Just getting ideas from you guys as I cannot currently afford to do a full body job and none of these rust areas are structurally hazardous (not even the inch long frame hole).
