Maaco did mine and they did a VERY good job. It's not show quality but it's been over 5 years now and still looks like the day I got it back. Maaco's are independently owned so go and check them out and talk to the owner about what you want. The one thing I would be leary of is having them do bodywork. With that kind of rust, I would probably look elsewhere. (BTW, my total was about 3K to strip it down to bare metal and shoot base and clear. I had them do the jambs but not the back sides of the hood and decklid.)

Your best bet may be to talk to some local guys at area car shows and see who they recommend. Chances are someone does it on the side that has access to the proper tools and booth. You'll get a quality job at a good price that way in most cases. The trade off is that you may be without the car for much longer than normal.

Don't skimp on that rust repair though. If not done right, it'll be back in that shape in no time. just my 2 cents.

what I was trying to say is get it done in steps using a guy for metal work so you can solve the rust problem

you can do some of the work yourself like taking the trim off and grinding on some of the rust.

3500 seems a little low unless the rest of the body does not have any dents and the paint is still good

Another option is to check with local trade schools and community colleges. They typically only charge for materials since they are using your vehicle as a training tool. Expect to be without your car for a school year. The students are there to learn how to do this stuff and the instructors will make sure it's done correctly. They also would probably rather work on a car like yours more than the typical Camry fender or Taurus bumper that they normally get in class. Just be very clear about what your expectations are up front. It won't likely be 100% perfect but it will look good at a considerable discount.

So I went out today, got some quotes, all about five to six k for paint and body work if I replace the doors. So until I find some doors I'm gonna do some rust painting on the visible stuff. Any ideas on how to slow the rusting? And how to paint it?

I watched a Video on Jay Leno's web site about a new 3M disposable paint gun system,It is supposed to save 60% to 70% on material , Solvents. and 30% on primers. Thus cutting the costs involved in a paint project.
3M Accuspray system use em up and toss the tips and cups. Very little to clean. Seems like a good Idea to me, But as always they don't talk about the cost.
