GM used "A body" on these platforms until the 1982 model year. Apparently everything 1982 and up is a "G body."
BUT:
You're pretty safe calling any GM midsize car (no Impalas, Caprices, Delta 88s) from 1978 to 1988 a G body.

But some of us stubborn owners prefer to call our '78-'81 cars an A-body.
