I know that the steering shaft has been covered here....100 times.

I've never seen the cherokee steering box talked about on a forum though.

I've mentioned it a few years ago. In fact, Hot Rod Magazine did the article back then.
It was very informative. I think another member also mentioned seeing the article.

Yep, did this upgrade a few years ago, amazing as my car was an F41 car, and this was much tighter and more responsive.
From my understanding, the gearbox is a direct bolt on in terms of pattern onto the frame correct? Is the pitman arm the same, or does it need to be swapped? The fittings are the same as the late G's with o ring style.

Jeep uses the "GM" box. That really isn't a GM box since they buy it from an outside vendor as well.

yes, pitman is gbody specific. if swapping from a square 4bolt cover, the pitman arm will work. if swapping from a round cover, a pitman arm for a square 4 bolt cover gear will need to be used.
yes, this uses an o-ring style lines. adapters may be required. or update the lines to o-ring style.

for those who want a tighter gear but don't want to deal with adapters or lines, find a steering gear from a late 70's trans am with ws6 package.

For my 85, just had to put my gbody pitman arm on the jeep box. One of those things I wish I'd done earlier. Only problem I had was the lowest bolt, sits in a pocket in the frame and was rusted about half in the middle. Don't recall the thread size, but it was a little hard to find a replacement bolt. Think I found one at a semi truck repair shop.

To be clear.
The Jeep Snagawhore box is what ratio?
Also ... What is the ratio of a WS6 box?
