Burnouts shouldnt be a problem, traction is what will hurt it.

I picked up a 67 8.2 posi chevelle rear with 3.08 gears for $600. I had to put $148 into the auburn for new thrust washers, pinion gears and I threw in a new pinion shaft. There guys out there running with 500 hp with the 8.2 rear so I have no worries. It did take me a year to find that rear tho.

Awsome Shrapnel!

new to the g-body but from the F-body experience i've had the 7.5" gear set is too small for anything with traction. I've broken two while racing on street tires they exploded on the 1-2 shift (M6) one was 4.10 (small pinion) other was 3.23 (giant pinion). I think it's curious that the 26 vs 28 spline axle makes much difference at all. I hope this works out for ya for a while but when I think of 7.5's I picture the two carcasses sitting in my garage.

Good news is I have 28 spline axles that are 2.5" too long for my G-Bod.

see i followed that thread closely during my buildup...and I think my 7.5 is strong enough to handle my 350 but i made a mistake and bought that damn gov-lock posi.

Update- I finished the installation this past monday, took her out for a spin just up and down the street and boy what a difference going from 2.56 to 3.73. The anti-hop bars are working like should,"planting" the rear and lifting the frame up. I also got a T/A girdle for the rear as well and i'll post pics next time its on the lift.
