Can you get someone to weld a door bar in mid way and retech the car?
I could, but then I’m still only good to 10.0. So, considering that no one cared last Drag week when my son and his friend ran under 11.5 by more than 2 seconds on the last day, and that I have all the bars at home ready to go in with the door panels as well - I’m good and I’m going to ‘run what I brung’

Regarding Bruce

His car is very nice - very clean setup. He of course, picks apart every flaw, but the car is really beautiful inside, outside, under the hood and underneath.

Greetings Guys; YUP I'll be there. What shirt should I wear, gray G Body that disappears into the crowd or Holden shirt with Red Lion logo? I so wish the Bronze Brick would of been there. I had just spoke with new owner on FB & he was headed to Atlanta's last week-end (did I get that right?) with a turbo S truck. He hasn't told me what he done or is doing the Ole' 9C1. When I sold it to him Drag Week was on his list. That's one reason I was surprised he took it apart? I'll see ya at Byron & be on the look out for "G's", Ole' Bob.

Tech day did not fair well for me, unfortunately. But I'm not overly concerned about.

My 8 point cage wouldn't certify as a 6 pint roll bar because I don't have a driver's door bar. I didn't weld it in because all of my local tracks (3) certified me to 10.0 (all NHRA tracks) with my current 8 point cage. But here I was told that I need a 7 point cage (that is referred to as a 6 point despite that it has 7 contact points with the frame) with the 7th point being the driver's door bar. It pissed me off for a moment, then I realized that I'm going to run this thing in the 9's without a cert for that anyway, on the last day and I calmed down.

So, the Drag Week, NHRA endorsed, certification makes no limit on 1/8 mile times. My plan is to have a crazy brake check past the 1/8th every day until Friday.

In a nutshell, I was certified to the same time that street car with zero safety equipment was despite that I have an 8 point cage, SFI :Flexplate, balancer, seat belts, helmet, driveshaft, driveshaft retention, wheel ends retention, rear firewall, battery disconnect, battery, wheel spec, tire spec, wheel retention spec, neutral safety, reverse lockout, fuel system and line retention, and anything else in the rule book.

I threw a finger at the NHRA. Then remembered why I don't bracket race or anything else other than test and tune at a sanctioned track.

Done with that rant.

Yup.
