Full doors would be great! How about moldings and trim? Keep us updated on your progress.

I am leaving for SEMA next week to finalize some things up with the chosen manufacturers, and yes, we are concentrating on much of the moldings as well, cutlass, regal, GN are first on the agendas.

Inner and outer rear wheel wells would be nice. In fact, everything rear of the doors seems to have rust issues with these cars; Wheel Wells, Trunk Pans, Quarters, Body Mount Sheetmetal and Frame Rails.

OEM grade weatherstrips and USA made doors will sell to the enthusiasts. They'll be expensive being US made but totally worth it in terms of quality.

I found out today what the cost is for the tool "S" on the doors. Just an educational piece here. On the average door to be MFG there is roughly 17 tools to make one door.

THe tools cost more than my home.

Doors should come in around 475-500 (high side) retail.

Make them in USA, double + 20% on the cost.

You'll have doors sitting on the shelf for years at $500 apiece. Sad, but true. Patch panels, however, would sell.

Most doors for any resto cost between 400-500$ so this is normal.

Alright ALL,

I beleive that there will not be a door produced now. The costs for the tools is quite expensive $200,000 for what I guess would sell. Not too many people have 900-1000$ laying around in disposable cash to put new doors that are not rusted on their cars. What I feel that will serve our community best is to make the patch panels for both the Cutlass and Regal. If sales are good and tooling a door is reasonable we will tool at that time. Below is a listing of items that will start tooling production in 6-8 weeks

Rad Support
T top patch panel
A pillar patch panel
80-100% quarter regal and cutty
Die stamped rocker
Die stamped inner door
Die stamped outer door
Door skin
Bumpers, regal and cutty

There are also plans for nearly every light, molding grilles and bexels on the Regal and Cutlass as well. We have started that process already.

Nice, will the core supports be Aluminum?

How about Aluminum hoods and trunk lids? 😀

Funny...I was just talking with the person we both know about that very same subject...lol. If i can get people to commit yes. But what I was thinking is replacement on cars due to rust. If i feel we can afford it we will build alum if not will have to go steel. Steel and Alum tools are different ....unfortunately.
