Does your school have any job related services? My fiance worked maintenance at her high school during her senior year. I know some schools have programs where you work part of the day either on campus or off. I just figured I'd mention it in case it's something you haven't looked into yet.
They do not. It's a good idea though.

I'll throw my input in here.

1. I definitely think you should be making some follow up emails/calls after your interviews if you haven't been doing so already. If you find out you didn't get the job, definitely ask for critiques and improvements you can make.

2. Talk to your guidance councilors, or other administrator you feel comfortable with at school. Be honest and upfront with them and let them know about your situation. They may have some resources, connections, or contacts that can help you out.

4. Don't leave any avenue exhausted. You may find what you are looking for down any road.

5. How is your resume? I have had a few jobs to build my resume, including a full time management position. I have seen the good and bad of resumes. Maybe that is something you can ask for critiques on (PM me if you'd like, I'm by no means an expert, but I may be able to help you out in that dept.)

And lastly, THIS IS FOR EVERYONE. Lets keep it civil here guys, I understand sometimes these types of situations can be a controversial subject. Please continue to voice your opinion respectfully or move on.

The car may look like a hooptie, but it's solid. There's no rust on it anywhere at all. Factory undercoating, Floors, trunk, rockers, doors, cowl, all solid. The 1500 or whatever it was that I was offered was WITH the 350 Buick in the car when it was running it's best. The guy would've given me 600 as a rolling chassis. I may be dim at times, but I ain't that dim.
haha hoopty, you watch haggard garage?

All this talk of selling the Regal is pointless, who really is going to pay much for it as an engineless roller? This is not meant as an insult, it is a realistic view of the possibilities, IMO.

And a $500 beater is going to be as much if not more repair trouble/ financial burden as the Regal....unless $500 cars are way better in Iowa than down here. Unlikely, based on the 25 years I spent there.
a 500$ beater would be good, less than half of the parts, less to break, plus a geo metro 3 cyl very low hp means less potential for things to break. trust me i know about that FWD life.

Wow, I wish I lived in this land of reliable $500 cars, with titles, and no major issues.

Pick any 2...

Title, runs, $500

A quick stroll through my local CL finds lots of $500 or less cars, most with broken/missing major components. The runners don't have titles. Tags several years out...that's $300 in penalties alone.

Beaters are $1000 and up these days in these parts.

Yea a quick stroll, but if you know what you are doing like my dude with the regal you can snatch one of these

Gems certainly are there, and it takes some digging. Hell, if I can score a big block 1970 Thunderbird with cylinder heads that are worth 1200 alone for 650, anything is possible. As I've said before, I'm either gonna buy a beater or fix my regal. Whatever happens first happens. Either way I will have a running driving car before this winter.

$500 daily driver beaters still exist. I drive one. You don't find them on Craigslist though. These are family, friend, co-worker, newspaper ad, word of mouth advertising deals. Everybody on Craigslist prices their stuff like it's made of gold. I've probably not spent $1000 total in getting the car on the road (engine swap) and repairs in 3 years. '94 Geo Prizm, same thing as a Toyota Corolla. Very dependable, reliable, slow car. It isn't fast but it gets you there and back. I have a '93 Corolla with 348K miles on it. It was running and driving fine the day my dad wrecked it and tore off the front bumper, smashed the headlights, smashed the hood and the fenders a little bit. I wanted to see if it would go past 400K. I might still fix it up and try it. Mom and dad bought the Corolla for $400. I bought it from them and then let my dad drive it to his cancer treatments.

If you look, you can find cheap cars. Just be careful what you buy and use common sense.
