Thanks for all the input and helpful advice guys. I've actually tried to sell the regal multiple times in the past, but every time my family talks some sense into me and I end up not going through with it. This car, in their words "is just too good to let go". They know how much I love the car and they'd hate to see me without it. If I get a job soon, I can make it work. I'll take the bus, buy a bicycle (I used to ride one all the time. Legs of steel.), do whatever is necessary, short of selling the car. Then once I get the job, portions of my pay will be going to help out whenever needed.

The car may look like a hooptie, but it's solid. There's no rust on it anywhere at all. Factory undercoating, Floors, trunk, rockers, doors, cowl, all solid. The 1500 or whatever it was that I was offered was WITH the 350 Buick in the car when it was running it's best. The guy would've given me 600 as a rolling chassis. I may be dim at times, but I ain't that dim.

Pray, stay positive or take up a bad habit (That's what I did). Just don't give up. I'm sure your out there killing it, maybe even piling up these interviews. Does you no good if you're not portraying yourself as an asset to these companies, though. I wouldn't hire you just based on your responses in this thread. There's a whole lot of good advice slapping you in the face and all of your responses are excuses.

It's a bad hand, for sure. Sorry to hear about your pop's. I do know there's a sh*t ton of support out there for you, maybe start with your guidance counselor at school?

I'm not going to bore you with my "I did this" story. Make your own.

But what do I know? I'm just a salty *ss E-5... lol

Hey! You know officers are going to talk, right? 😉

Thank you Motorheadmike and Dotheshuffle for you service... as for Mr Sony... you might want to consider the military upon graduating... get paid and send home some money to help out... little to no overhead, free housing and food... and come out with discipline, life experience and a set of skills. Just an idea. I know it's not for everyone, but it's job, and an important one at that!

I couldn't agree more.

But no it seem like it is excuse after excuse with this guy.

And now the solution is set up a give me money web page?

I'm sorry but this is the problem with this generation.

It is just getting ridiculous.

If your in need then the toys got to go and you have to go hustle your @ss to find work and not hang out on the internet.

You go to an interview don't try to make the female boss laugh You want the job be serious about it. It's not time for jokes.

I'm all for helping out but before I do you got to at least help yourself.

All this talk of selling the Regal is pointless, who really is going to pay much for it as an engineless roller? This is not meant as an insult, it is a realistic view of the possibilities, IMO.

And a $500 beater is going to be as much if not more repair trouble/ financial burden as the Regal....unless $500 cars are way better in Iowa than down here. Unlikely, based on the 25 years I spent there.

I agree with what you're saying, but the way you are saying, you're coming off a tad crass. Oh, and I love the "that's the problem with this generation" bit. Always a winner, that one. I have busted my *ss. I had a sh*t job with sh*t pay for two years that I had to leave for medical reasons (facial surgery, if you must know. I had it in June and the scars are finally healed). I've been looking every day for a job and maybe once a month being called in for an interview. It took me two years to get the money to build my engine. In that entire time I was almost part of a mass lay off twice, but I busted my *ss. Do you know how easy it is for employers in retail to just dump you like a sack of turds? I was making 7.25 an hour, barely making 100 bucks a week. If you asked for a couple hours more the management would laugh in your face and tell you to get back to standing for 4 hours at a time with a 5 minute break every 4. I made 7,700 dollars in two years. TWO. 2,700 of that went back into helping pay bills filling up my parents cars with gas and buying food. It wasn't much but it's what I could spare. I don't know why you're being such an *ss, but it must be easy to talk down to a fresh face young adult when you probably have a steady 9-5er making enough to actually live off of.
