DISQUALIFIER! if you have rubs or regrets.... eh go ahead and post em anyway so i don't make your mistake.

i have a 86 ss and had not the head gaskets blown after a tune up & new oil change just before the lockdowns none of this would of happened , i'd still be rockin the L69, dusty lookin orig paint & stock N90s (that i always thought were ugly) and driving it with pride.

things have changed the 305 wasn't salvageable so got a nice reproduction L05-k for $2900ish from pace performance shipped long block but what a incredible short block it is.

anyway back to wheels. my car is black and here is my inspiration for the look i want to achieve.
a few switch ups and here they are:

rims. the top 2 in tan but in black

tires. i hate chevy rallys but these redline tires even make those look good.

what i'm curious about is those of you who gone 17" i wanna see how your 17s look on your car and post your tire sizes and back spacing. i'm also a member on http://montecarloss.com/ and i have a msg out to the 1 who owns that car cuz i love how those wheels set & tires bulge over the side..

I still have 15" rims on my Monte but my Regal has 17" x 8.5" all around with 275/50 on the back and 235/50 on the front.
I wanted tires that matched the height of my previous 15" set up which is why I went with a 50 series instead of something shorter.

17x8 front and rear with 4” backspace rear and 4 3/4” backspace front
255/45/17 rear 245/45/17 front
Very slight rub on inner fenders front , might be able to fix with a spacer but I don’t really care that much
May upsize the rear tire to 275 50 17 but haven’t lowered the car yet may not need to

17's all around here, American Racing Torque Thrust M Series Wheels.

Front: 17x8, 245/45 tire

Rear: 17x9, 285/40 tire

1" billet spacers all around to give the rear clearance off the frame and to stick the front out for the same look.

Don't have 17's but Year One has a nice selection of OE looking ones.
This would be my choice as I have the 15's for my car.

Then there's the MCSS ones.

Running 17x7 front with 4"BS and 225/50zr17 and 17x8 rear with 4.5"BS and 255/45zr17. I found the front does barely rub the sway bar at full lock due to backspacing, rears just barely clear the frame but plenty on wheelwell side. Planning on frame notch this winter which should allow the Cutlass to accommodate at least a 275. Car is currently lowered 1", but soon to go lower.....

Same situation I ran into with my setup, front was barely scuffing the sway bar and the rear would have been scrubbing frame. I put 1" spacers all around and the tires are flush on the fender lips with the needed clearance on the inside.

Luckily you Monte guys have more room for activities. No way I could put a 1" spacer on the rears, the lip would be eating tire! I could fit a 275 now, but would need a custom 3 piece wheel, $1k/wheel is not in the budget.
