Idle is all over the place

Did you use cleaner or WD-40?

Cleaner. I thought I had WD40 but it was pretty much gone. I hit the carb w it pretty good too though & it did crank right over from a cold start. Something it hasn't done since I had it.

Cleaner may make things worse.

If there was any type of lubricating agent on the carb you just washed it away.

Now all those rusty bits may get hung up more.

It may have idled better just because things were wet or the cleaner filled in a gap where there was a vacuum leak.

remove the rod, held on at the servo end with a cotter pin type thing i dont know the name of off hand, other end kinds rotates up and off the throttle linkage.again spray all over with wd-40 or pb blaster and let sit for a while, maybe take a soft brass brush to the linkages to break the rust up then spray again.the linkage rod you took off can be made to work fine by sanding it alittle to get the rust off and hooking it right back up to keep cruise control.if you need help rebuilding the carb later i can pretty much walk you through it step by step and tell you how to rig up the special tools you need from some copper tubing to adjust rich and lean stops as well as tps adjustment.they arnt too difficult to tackle just a few tools you need to have or make up

just actually saw your pic lol the rod is removed alitle differently but same concept

So an update: Car started showing a major decrease in acceleration & struggling when stomping on gas, wanting to stall when coming to a stop, etc. Changed the fuel filter, the element in the blower & air filter. Didn't help much. Then I pulled these codes:

13 - O2 Sensor or Circuit
21 - TPS Circuit
24 - Vehicle Speed Sensor
44 - Oxygen Sensor

I thought maybe it was my cat convertor, but now not sure. What do you guys think?

Did you check for a banana in the tailpipe?

tps voltage is probably out of whack or just bad if you've never replaced it,to check you need a multimeter and probe the a and b terminals looking for close to .48 ish volts.should increase steadily up to about 4 volts as you pull the throttle back to wot position.to adjust look at the drivers side of the carb immediately to the right of the throttle arm is a port thats usually capped off with a aluminum cap you have to drill and remove then you can put a very small piece of brass or copper tubing in there and kinda press it on to form to the shape of the end of the adjustment screw, turn it in to up the voltage and out to lower it.
the vehicle speed sensor is behind the dash to the right of the instrument cluster pretty sure its a green box and should have one or two plugs plugged into it depending on if you have cruise or not.while it may be bad id check to make sure everything is plugged into it.
o2 sensor may be doing its thing or bad if its never been replaced, kinda a pain to get to so have fun with that lol, will be on the passenger side exhaust manifold and will have a one wire connector that is your lucky is just disconnected or melted.
