Installing alt on passenger side

Cuz the alt bracket needed to be extended away from the motor to line up with the water pump. i figured a different wp pulley will allow the alt to line up while in its intended position

My opinion is: the bolts are like 6 inches long. Maybe 2 inches actually go into the motor. So the exposed 4+ inches of the bolt is more easy to bend under pressure.
So having a bolt 2 inches in the motor and 2 inches exposed would be stronger.

Im returning the pulleys. I will see if i can get some hardened bolts for the bracket. If not. Im putting the alt back to the driver side. And will have to figure out how this ac bracket bolts on.

I use the same top pulley as Flemming442. I see you have the 3 groove crank pulley, so never mind. Here is mine.

Before i made the alt position change, the alt was on the outer groove by the fan blade. The power steering was on the middle groove.

Went to fastenol and ordered grade 8 hardened bolts. That should probly work. The 1 bolt was bending when i tightened the belt up. Will get it tuesday. I also returned the pulleys. I will worry about that another day. If these bolts dont work, will put ac back on

Ok. Got my new bolts and put everything back together. Still is rubbing on the WP pulley. So i took everything back off. I rigged the bracket in place using washers/nuts as spacers to see how close it could be with the bracket directly on the WP. Its pretty close. I need like a half inch and then i can put the alt on the 1st groove closest to WP. But i would have to put a spacer between the alt and where it meets the bracket piece. Also, the alt will be pretty much touching the valve cover. So my question is:
1) is there going to be an issue with the alt possibly touching the valve cover? Im gonna see how much it is to clock the alt so the power wire stud is flipped. But im still pretty sure the casing will be touching
2) is the alt suppose to have a longer belt to go acrossed the WP and Crank pulley?
3) does anyone else have any better ideas?
Im pretty much stuck with the power steering being on the middle groove, theres not alot of adjusting left......unless i find longer "studs" to space it out.....but then it wont line up with the crank

It should be fine touching the valve cover. A dual groove power steering pump is handy, got one off a 76 parts car. Yes, route the belt around the water pump AND crank pulley.

Ok. Ive been looking for belt setups on facebook and craigslist but most have been picked over. Ive had the alt just went around the WP since i owned it🤔 im gonna continue my hunt for more 403 parts😎

Will any small block power steering pulley work? The current stuff is from a newer 307
