If you look at the sender on Autozone.com for the 94 Chevy Astro you will see what it looks like. Additionally you can purchase a E3212 for a 94 Chevy Truck C2500 with 7.4L. Here is the fuel pump ratings.
OEM Standard Part
Maximum Free Flow Rate (gph):
40
Maximum Pressure Range (psi):
55
Minimum Free Flow Rate (gph):
40
Minimum Pressure Range (psi):
36
I think what pump you have now will simply install where the Astro sender would. So it would be like a plug and play unit.

Andrew,

I was really intrigued by the 94 Astro fuel meter-sender assembly so I did some looking around. What I found was because of the way the Astro fuel tank is designed, it actually needs for the stand pipe to be longer, hence it reaches to the bottom of the G-Body wagon fuel tank. 1994 was the last year of that iteration of the Astro van, the fuel system changed to polymer lines in 1995.

Good Stuff, Hope this saves somebody time and expense when building an injected wagon. ...

Work schedule has been brutal the last couple of weeks. Seems like the dam can't just leak, it has to break. Anyway, I've been working on the menial yet essential items that need to be done; they aren’t necessarily fun to do or things that any one will ever see, but have to be done none the less.

Things like measuring, laying it out and then tack welding the console brackets to the tunnel, Test fitting the exhaust and finding suitable hangers and clamps, Engineering the location of the Oxygen sensors in the exhaust system, Stripping the interior roof, sides and floor to apply the FatMat sound deadener.

Beyond that, I pulled the interior down off the shelf and started to sort it out. Also pulled all the stainless off the shelf to sort out and send over for banging out where needed and general polishing. After I have my sweaty mitts on it during the install, it’ll need to be polished again.

I really need two different “B” pillar trim pieces before I get too far along. Problem is I need the light colored stuff, gray or tan. …

I did manage to get the word “REAR” removed from the wheels I’ll be using so they should be headed to the powder coater in a week or so. Had a nice chat with the manager at Discount Tire today and he indicated he would work with me on the tire sizes until I got what fit the best. I originally went there to purchase some used tires for test fit purposes, naturally they don’t have 245/50/16 or 255/50/16 used tires just hanging around.

All that combined with the usual ridiculous amount of money out lay for parts, I’d have to say things are pretty much normal around here. I really need to finish up the motor now so I can tie up the loose ends and get the body on the chassis. Once that happens, the rest of this is gonna go fast.

Speaking of the engine I’m also working on clutch fork geometry. I’m using a one year only bell housing from a 1983 IROC Camaro. These are unique in as much as they still use mechanical linkage and not the hydraulic slave. The bell housing cants the transmission about 17 degrees towards the driver. I noticed I referenced it as 27 degrees in an earlier post. Brain thinks one thing and the fingers barely type something else. This makes the transmission fit more easily under the tunnel.

If you’re using the 606 bell housing (original G-Body three/four speed stuff), then I’m relatively certain you need the funky clutch fork. Here’s a photo of three forks. The fork on the left is the original G-Body fork, the fork in the middle is the original F-Body (IROC) fork, the fork on the right is the piece that AC Delco says works on the G-Body without modification. Whether that’s true or not I won’t have the opportunity to find out but it may very well work with my setup so I bought one.

Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, How was the play. ... :blam:

The other thing I’ve been trying to perfect is the fuel sender/meter assembly. The original unit I purchased was from a injected full size blazer with the forty gallon tank option.

And then Andrew came along using a fuel sender/meter out of an Astro. As you can see, the 5/8 vent pipe is exactly opposite of the Blazer unit making clearance less of an issue.

Missed it by that much. ... :wtf:

Nice. I have the same work issue, man I can't get anything done. I like the progress though!

It may be slow, but you're still making progress. I'm interested to see how the clutch install goes. Did you get the '83 Camaro bellhousing from Year One? Is this a new/reproduction part? Years ago, I had an original '83 F body bellhousing & fork, but I ended up selling it, along with a T5 that I had. What exactly is the application for the third clutch fork that you've shown in the photos? Its the one that you said that AC/Delco says is for a G body. Is there a GM part number for that clutch fork? Just curious as to how you found out about it, and where you got it. Keep up the good work and the updates, thanks.

Well, I can't really answer all of your questions just yet but stay tuned. I'm going to mate a bare block to the bellhousing and transmission to do a little clutch push rod geometry review.

As it relates the the AC Delco clutch fork, this is what the application guide states for useage.

AC DELCO PROFESSIONAL 387001 Clutch Fork
This part is compatible with 1vehicle(s) matching 1978 Chevrolet Malibu .

[Clutch Relay Fork] 1978 Chevrolet Malibu Classic Wagon 4-Door 5.0L 305Cu. In. V8 GAS OHV Naturally Aspirated

Now I think we all know and agree that the stock G-Body manuals came with the geriatric clutch fork but I don't know exactly why. I know the pivot ball on the 606 bellhousing is set lower in the housing but never could figure out the "unique" fork. You should be able to purchase one of these forks brand spankin new for around twenty bucks.

The bellhousing I'm using was the last year (1983) for manual linkage (non-hydraulic) clutch in an "F" body (Camaro). There's nothing wrong with a juice clutch, it's just not my deal. The bellhousing is an OE GM piece. You can find them around if you're looking regularly.

Thanks alot for your reply. I have a 1981 Iraqi Malibu here with the 229 V6 and the 3 speed Saginaw in it. Its the third one of these cars that I've owned over the past 20 years. I still have some manual trans related parts from the other cars, as well as some extra stuff that I've picked up over the years. I know about the geriatric clutch fork, because that's what GM used for the clutch in the Iraqi cars. I've wondered if the '83 F body bellhousing would locate its clutch fork in approximately the same position as the geriatric fork that GM used in the original Chevrolet A/G body setup. That 387001 fork is a new one on me though. I wondered if it might be for something like a Pontiac or Oldsmobile A/G body application-maybe that would be different than a Chevrolet. Just wondering out loud.

No, they were all the same under the sheet metal. I'm hoping the 83 bell housing changes the angle enough to be able to use a stock fork. Kinda hard to bang gears with the original broken arm fork ...
