That's exactly what I ended up doing. being I wasn't going to try and stake the new screws...red Loctite to the rescue. 👍I use red loctite on the butterly screws too, since they're no longer staked.

There should be a few You Tube videos that instruct you how to replate the carb bodies....although I never did mine. I was happy that I got it somewhat clean and functional again.
That's a good point. The coating does protect the metal somewhat from corrosion.I'm not so much worried about the body, as much as I am the linkages and the air flaps. And I'm not really even worried about cosmetics, I just don't want them to rust without their zinc or whatever coating was on them.
The air flaps won't really rust unless the air filter is left off for an extended amount of time. The fuel vapor will mostly keep that from happening. Avoid painting anything that will be under the air filter, the vapors will just make any paint curdle. There are some ways to replate stuff at home, but it's kind of expensive and not really worth it imo. And this is what a carb looks like with a few light coats of the carb paint from eastwood:
