It's alive, did you feel the earth shake?

Got my daughters 305 running last night. Just kidding on the "earth shake " deal!! :lol:

Short version it had one bad lifter and 2 more that were getting ready to go.

Replaced the following: w/p, balancer, t-chain set, broom stick (cam), lifters, push rods, 1.5 roller rockers springs and spark plugs.

Did some general clean up and tightening of everything , plus new hoses,etc etc.

Primed the carb with my squirt bottle and turned the key.........

Fired on the first crank ! \😀/

I had cranked up the a/c solenoid to hold the engine idle up during the one man break-in so I could check for leaks etc.

She is no rocket but runs smooth and sounds good. The previous owner replaced the muffler with a glass pack, thought it may sound to "poppy" but with the cat it is deep and mellow. Hopefully will get decent MPG for my daughter , 2.41 gear will help..

Plan on getting it inspected in the next few days, will drive it for a week to 2 to iron out the bugs then hand the keys to my daughter.

Pretty sure she will me the only kid in the school parking with a V8 Wagon amongst a sea of 4 banger imports.

What a great Dad! I handed both my Daughters 2nd gen Firebirds for college, one survived one was wrecked so I guess I broke even.

nicely done, the 2.41 will help if it's highway driving but they killed the gas mileage for me in the city

when I read the title of the thread I though maybe you were in Oklahoma, they've had 6 earthquakes in the last 4 days..

Nice! I've still got a couple years before my daughter is behind the wheel. At this point it looks like she'll probably inherit my wife's Neon. I wish she could be talked into something cooler (more fun to work on) but at least her tastes haven't gotten expensive yet. Where's the pics?
