Got over to the junkyard today with UC645 and pagrunt and sawzall'd the living daylight out of that Grand Prix. These pieces are in great shape. I've got a lot of spot welds to drill but I believe I have all the metal I need to patch up the floor area.

And as a bonus I got a factory jack, lug wrench and all the hardware to go with it.

I really like that model of factory jack. A little cumbersome but I trust them a hell of a lot more than the bumper jacks or them dumbass scissor jacks.

I know one thing from that excursion- if you need a panel cut out quick, hand the Ford guy the Sawzall.

While I will admit to having above average sawzalling skills, I must give credit to the Legendary Harbor Freight blades.

With all of the rust in your floorboards did you do a thorough check of the inner rockers to make sure they are not soft?

I recall welding a couple patches into them when I had the body off but with the frame in the way, I haven't started poking really hard just yet. I have the majority of the inner rockers on the pieces we cut out yesterday and if I need more, those inner rockers are being reproduced now IIRC. Either way they will be solid by the time I'm done.

When I was doing my Regal a few years back the rockers on the passenger side looked ok but when I started really checking them I found they were thin and flimsy, I ended up welding in outer and inner rockers on both sides plus doing some repairs under the back seat area but just a few small patches for floor board repairs.
I bought new outer rockers but the inners I just made myself and used a thicker gauge than the aftermarket replacements.

Today I began disassembling the pieces we cut out at the junkyard over the weekend. I worked on the passenger side first. I've got it down to the inner rocker and the piece that goes over the frame rail. Now I need to think how I'm going remove the existing panels and weld this in. I know its not ideal but I really think the body is gonna have to be removed from the frame in order to weld these in. WWYD?

Just for demonstrative purposes, I clamped the new floor to the replacement panel.
