I never entered one of these because my car never fit the description but this month what you are looking for fit me perfect lol. Here is my 1985 Cutlass project that I'm working on. I'm putting my own custom touches on this car. This is going to be my weekend car & maybe stop by a couple local car shows. I been working on it for a while but I want to do everything myself that's why it's taking so long to get it completed. I also have 3 children & a wife that need time + work so I don't get to spend a lot of QT with my baby (the Cutlass)like I want to lol. If you want to check out the thread I started on this car here is the link http://gbodyforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=22803&hilit=my+$60+pick+up I haven't added anything to it in a while so I guess this submission will be kinda like an update for the people that been following me.
I'm going to that paint it like an Olds/Hurst but it will be purple at the top & silver at the bottom with a little red & black.
Here is the car when I first got it. I bought it from a friend who had just bought it from a older guy that was just letting it sit in his back yard. My buddy bought it for $100. He only wanted the 305, transmission & a few other things off of it then he sold it to me. It didn't have any interior, no engine, no transmission, broken steering column, no door panels, broken trunk, a few minor rust spots & a broken windshield. I had all that stuff coming off of my other cutlass so it was cool. Oh yeah its a T-top. I really needed this because the back frame rail was rusted on the cutlass I was driving & that back bumper was ready to hit the ground at any day.
Engine Bay
steering box
fans
painted pulleys
This is the first engine I had in the car. I pulled this one out & have another one ready to go in.
Since I'm doing the custom thing I decided to do something a little different with the dashboard. The iPad is going to be able to slide in & out from the side. Once it is in & locked onto the dock I will be able to play my music & everything else so it will basically be my headunit. Movies played in the iPad will be showed on the TV.
Dakota Digital
iPad
24" TV
This is how its going to be.
I will also be fiberglassing my door panels, center console, my kick panels, & the back deck with a couple speakers
Here are my factory wheels that I painted
Here are the wheels i'm going to put on it once everything is done. They will match the colors on the car. The backside of the face & inside the cuts will be purple. Ill be painting the face of the wheels silver. I fixed the curb rash & I'm painting a small section on the lips purple. The purple will be followed by a very thin red stripe & I'm going to leave the rest of the lip as it is but polish it up to get a good shine.
22" HRE Type 640R with 265-35-22 tires
I had to take them to get dipped in B-12 stripper to remove the powdercoating because I tried everything & failed. I knew powdercoating was more durable than paint but I never knew it was that strong. I tried aircraft strippers, gasket removers, & even the powdercoating remover from Eastwood didnt even work.
After a little paint. Its purple but the pearl that's in it is making it look blue when I take pics.
I haven't did any suspension work yet. I'm going to do all of that stuff when I swap the spindles for the Blazer spindles to mount the C5 brakes & 13" rotors
I bought this posi rear end a little while ago. I'm going to put 3.37's in it. I need to clean it up, paint it & do the C5 brake swap on it so I can put it on the car.
I am going to paint these red before I put them on.
I didn't have the money to buy one so here is the hurst hood scoop I made. I took one my friend had & just made a mold of it. Thats only one layer of fiberglass so it is pretty flimsy. I will add a couple more layers to strengthen it up more & make mounting tabs when I get close to getting the car ready for paint. I made one of the air dams that hangs below the front bumper on the H/O's too. I cant find the pics of it right now but it looks pretty good.
Here are the seats I'm going put in my cutlass. They came out of a wrecked 2007 Pontiac G6. They are in really good condition & thet are heated. They should keep me nice & warm in the winter months if I pull it out the garage. I am going to do purple inserts on the seats & change the seatbelt color
Here is what it look like now
The engine has been rebuilt. It is a 355 & I just put a mild cam in it. I'm going to try to get it in the car so I can break the cam in this weekend.
Wrapped the headers
Here is my steering column. I pulled the ignition switch & shaved the column since I will not need keys anymore.
This RFID Push button start kit is what I will be using. It automatically unlock the doors when I'm walking to the car & locks them when I'm out of range for longer than 15 seconds. it has a built in alarm also. I think this will be something cool on a old skool.
