So the 3.73 and the 3 speed auto are little bit to revy at highway speeds huh....
Thats kind of what I thought. My rear tires are 265 -60- 15 and with the 2.41
I can barely get to 2500 rpm on any shift point. unless you hold it in gear.
So what you said tells me I probably should stay around 3.23 or even 3.08
3.08 is as big as I can go on this carrier. but a 3.23 and limited slip diff would be the cream.
It seems that 3.23 gears from Gear vendors or Yukon gear do not call for changing the carrier but from
what I have been told the gears will work but looses some strength in doing so. I would think that my
application would be fine at just less than 350 h.p.
However, The change in ratio allows for more torque from the motor to be applied to the transmission
and rear end. I'm not a drag racer. I like to cruise in the sweet zones. and go to shows.
So I may shoot for the 3.23 upgrade and leave it alone.
I go to shows too, although I have no business being there. All these nice Camaros and Mopar's and then there's me showing up in a tubbed out '83 Monte Carlo spray painted black. Straight pipe exhaust, no power steering, no a/c and no radio. There's usually a six pack of coors on my roof too and my dog lays on the trunk. Mainly I enter my car just for the up front parking. It's what a muscle car should be, was and still is in my mind. Built, not bought and forever in the project stages.
Sure I agree 100% with that. A muscle car is built. Not farmed out to high dollar shops to build it for you either.
Many of the rides in the magazines are owned by guys who did very little if any of the work and basically just
drive it. Somehow thats just wrong.
You get a nice sense of pride too over the guys who paid for all their work. Sure, I could get a shiny paint job, but then that would put to waste the massive amounts of suface area my car provides for tools in the garage.
