Re: Junkyard PICS South Texas (Back from Another Trip)

Not to add to the work you're already doing, but I could surely use the stainless rocker mouldings along the lower driver's door and underneath it if you come across any 78-80 GP's. They're next to impossible to find up here.

I was planning on deleting the trim but it's going to cost more to fill all the holes than just replace the rocker mouldings.

Re: Junkyard PICS South Texas (Back from Another Trip)

I also happen to need the lower stainless rocker moulding for the fenders, doors, and quarter panels for a 1983 Monte Carlo LS if you can keep on the look out for any quality pieces I'd really appreciate it. No G-Body's in any of the yards out here due to all the hobby stock dirt track racing done around here.

Re: Junkyard PICS South Texas (Back from Another Trip)

Like I said guys, send me a PM and I'll make a list for the next time I go out. But for now it'll be a while as my budget is limited and I'm heading to maine this friday.

Here is a pic of the stuff I grabbed. The wires, pressure switches, and vacuum switch are for my 700r4, the starter is basically a factory mini starter that is from a 4.3L 98' Blazer, one air box screw, and some rubber for the radiator.

so that starter will bolt right up to a SBC 350 with no problems???

Re: Junkyard PICS South Texas (Back from Another Trip)

Yep its basically a stock "mini" starter. I tested it out last night, and the teeth engage perfectly with no shims.

But there is a way to find the right one. First, you need to have a 168 tooth flywheel, not the smaller one. On the S10's and Blazers, they have both flywheels as well depending on the application. The way you tell the difference is one will have the mounting bolts directly apart from each other, which is an indication of that motor having the smaller flywheel, while the other type of starter has "staggered" mounting bolts that are not directly across from each other, which indicates that motor has a 168 tooth flywheel. You need the starter with the "staggered" mounting bolts and a 168 tooth flywheel.

Re: Junkyard PICS South Texas (Back from Another Trip)

Do you have a pic of both starters side by side?

Re: Junkyard PICS South Texas (Back from Another Trip)

No I don't, I had to use my old one as a core. I can tell you though that the starter from the blazer/S10 is half the size and weighs 8lbs. compared to my old stock one which weight 18-20lbs.

Re: Junkyard PICS South Texas (Back from Another Trip)

Still taking parts requests? I could use a set of front and rear bumper filler pieces for a 79' Malibu, as well as the license plate pocket and license plate/gas door from a 3rd gen F-body.

Also, you should buy those wheels in the 5th picture, just to destroy them your self and save anyone from buying those god awful things :puke:

Re: Junkyard PICS South Texas (Back from Another Trip)

I'm not taking up any right at the moment, but if you send me a PM I'll be able to keep track that way better than in this thread. I'm still waiting to receive payment for all the parts I've already bought. Two of the guys I trust are going to pay, but the other two haven't even bothered to contact me back yet. So now I'm sittin here wondering if I'll even be able to buy gifts. 😢
