Key not turning over engine...84 Monte Carlo

Just the connector I have pictured. No key required to test the starter. If you actually want to start the engine will need the other connector jumped or the switch turned on.

Ok red wire is getting 12v... Looking for wire to jump start the red and purple wire and try that next

The jumper wire on the connector to the red and purple wire didn't work without the key or with the key. It sparked but no starter action...

To jump my starter and start my engine, I have been using an Innova starter bumper I bought from Autozone for $20, but that's under the hood and every time I need to start my car, I have to put the key in the on position and then go under the hood to press the button to start it.

There is something wrong with the purple wire. If it sparked there is a load could be grounded out or the the connector at the starter is bad or there is something installed in the middle.

Go from the wires coming out under the wiper motor. follow the 12ga purple wire from there to the starter.

If he’s touching the red to the purple starter wire like he said he was, then it’s supposed to spark, like it would when a vehicle becomes hot wired.

I doubt the starter wire is the problem, unless it’s damaged just enough to still have some continuity of some sort, but too rough to hold the amps the starter requires.

Might happen but pretty rare, because when you jump the red to the purple it should spark but then engage the starter as normal.

I would really see if the installed fusible links are just done, as the starter bumper works every time correct?

Because if it’s not that, then I am really sensing a grounding issue.

Gotcha, I'll try to film it as I go along

Yea the red wire shows 12v and the purple wire shows -0.01v with the switch in the on or off position...

What does the fusible link on the wire look like ?

Have someone try turning it to the run position in the car, and measure the purple wire with the voltmeter as they are trying to crank.

And where the two smaller red wires are, that’s the fusible links.

Ok ill try that in a few hours when I have someone wake up this morning lol...

I don't have two red wires with my purple wire, just the power wire from the battery and purple wire...

I don't have 3 wires attached to the starter power terminal like this picture, just the black battery power wire and the purple ignition wire...

Here is how mine is wired, black wire with the ignition wire is the starter bumper clamp... Without the starter bumper clamp its just the purple ignition wire on the "S" terminal and the battery's positive black power wire on the power terminal on the starter.
