I think there's another 10th second to gain...

this time, I ran more weight than usual. I'm still working on the tune, it hesitates coming off the line and leans out on the top end. And I'm really not using the new stall to it's potential.

I think with a good tune, no hesitation off the line, a good load and flash on the stall, my usual weight trimming, and get rid of these damn old slicks
... I think there's a 12.7 in there. And I wanna see 12.5 or 12.4 with the 4.11s I plan for next year.

OH YEAH!! those are nice times Khan. napierville dragway is about 1/2 hour from my place and I go fairly regularly. it`s a nice, familly owned track. Let me know when you go back and I`ll meet you there. Kinda nice to see a fellow member face-to-face

Love to see that GP pulling the wheels off the ground! :mrgreen: I am actually hoping to get my GP down the 1/4 once i'm done and am shooting for 12-13 second's. You got a nice looking ride!

I agree, it's always good to meet fellow enthusiasts. I actually met 1983Malibu here on the forum and then at the track the other weekend at Napierville, very cool.

I will definitely be making a few trips out next summer as well. I'll let you know when I do

For sure let me know when you return next summer. With a little luck, the 400 will be installed in the Lemans and we can have a little grudge match. Acutally it will be more like seing by how many car lenghs you whip my *ss. My setup will be fairly mild compared to yours and I will be hoping and glad to break into the 13`s

Should still be a lot of fun though getting a couple of forum members together for a afternoon.

what are your plans with the motor? Those 400s can be brutal and mild mannered, split personalities. Borrow some slicks, I'm guessing you see low 13s maybe high 12s pretty easy, even on a stock-ish build.

It`s a pretty basic build really. The 400 is out of a 76 GP, I`ve replaced the 6x heads with a set of 5c`s from a 75 350 to up compression a little to around 8.2:1, I have a edelbrock p4b manifold using the original q-jet from the 400. The cam is a summit grind with 214/224 duration @.050 with .452 lift. An ancient pair of 3 tube headers, and a th350 round things up. I currently have a 2:71 posi 7.5 inch rear which I hope to replace with a 3:42 before next summer. I expect to make maybe 300 horses or so, nothing radical since this is my daily driver. it should still be plenty enough to have fun with and if I break into the 13`s I`ll be pleased. At least for now.

My basic plan is to make it all look factory installed.
