You should have a lot more oil than what it looks like in the top end.

I would question if the oil gallery plug under the rear main cap was installed.
I've been talking to the guy I got if from during the whole ordeal and he insists it was running perfectly when he pulled it and that he wouldn't try to screw someone. Me personally- I would've blocked someone's number if I knowingly sold th9 a piece of junk. He seems like he really had no idea of any issues.

Is that indicative of a bearing problem, oil pump?

No oil will cause every possible problem that is imaginable. and some you can't even imagine!!!

Sounds like a Craigslist special and you may have got scammed.

Did you meet the seller at their house or a parking lot?

Time to throw a connecting rod through his front window.

In my younger days that would've been very likely hahaha.

If you contact the seller and ask him to come to listen to the engine and he declines or he comes over and denies he sold you a bad engine then you can always sue him.Your small claims court's jurisdiction limit is $8,000. If you start an action for the price you paid for the engine, the time and money you spent on transportation of the engine and installation he may be willing to discuss a solution.
