While it wont make it as a G-Body of the month car, it still turns heads.

I would go with a staggered look. 15x7 with the 215/65/15 is the perfect size for the front. Rears I'd go with 15X8 255/60. 3.5-4.0 inch back spacing should work fine. If you want to save some money the cooper cobra radials have the RWL with a less expensive price.

I thought of going the staggered route but wanted to have the option of rotating my tires if need be. If I go 15x7 with 215-65-15 all around I'm wondering what it would look like. Anyone have a picture of a Gbody or specifically a GP with this setup?

It will work. From my understanding that tire size was basically invented for the g-body cars. It would also be the correct tire if you upgraded the 14's found in the 78-80 to a 15 inch wheel, keeping the height virtually stock.

If you want something meatier, theres also 225x70 and i heard many are happy with a 235x60 tire all around.

Thank you everyone for your input. I think I'm gonna go with the 225-60-15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A with Cragar SS or Eliminator 500 rims. Still undecided as to which rim but like I said earlier I'm limited as to my choices given the Collector Plates on my car. Also, I'm allowed to drop my car 1 inch all around as per the regulations. Personally I would like a 3 inch drop to change the stance and reduce the amount of space between the fender and the tire but no can do. What would be the easiest way to do that without putting in drop spindles. I don't mind changing the springs because I have to replace the rear shocks anyways but don't want to make this a big production.

Sounds good. I really like the Cragar polished Eliminator wheel and it won't break your wallet. I noticed Jegs is running a great special on polished centerline wheels 15x7 & 15×8 wheels with 3.5 BS for only $ 165.95. Its from there competition line. They usually run for like $219 or around there.

Im set on getting 17 inch wheels but that lightweight forged made in the USA centerline wheel has me thinking otherwise, I also like the backspacing. I think 15x8 with 3.5 bs can work on the rear. The 15x7 with the same bs on the front should definately work.

Anyway whatever you do post up some pics for us.

This is my 86 grand prix. She is my daily driver. 60k miles and counting

Nice in flat black. How is she holding up as a daily driver? And what size wheels and backspacing are you sporting?

She has done great as a daily driver. The wheels are 20s but I dont know the backpacking , i had to have a 1inch spacer in the rear to keep them from rubbing the frame.

Hey 81GrandPrix LJ I just got the go ahead to put some Cragars on my car by my insurance company. It has Collector Plates so not allowed to add much to it and have to keep it factory stock. So my question is, what size tires are you running on your GP? I'm thinking to getting 15x7 rims with 215-65-15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A's. Not permitted to get 16's to keep Collector status so 15's will have to do. Any comments from anyone is appreciated.
I went with Rally II's from an earlier Pontiac simply painted silver. They are 15x7's with 205/70/r15's. The offset is a little tight so my tires rub the frame on the front when the wheel is cranked hard to the stop. Not really a problem.
