All Ive done to it is got rid of the stock steering wheel for a Grant, tach on the A-Pillar, put a stereo system in it (600W, single 10" sub for a little thump, nothing hoopdie), Tires since they were date coded 1994, Suspension components since they were bad from sitting for... well, decades.. Shocks, idler arm, pittman arm, center link, all 4 tie rods, couplers.. complete tune up and complete fluid change.
Plans: Headers, Duals, Flowmaster 40's off of a G-Body that went from SBC to BBC.. Edelbrock performer intake (with EGR).. all already purchased. Just looking for someone to put the exhaust on.. I'm not playing with manifold bolts that have been in place for 33 years. They can deal with it if they snap one... or two... or 10 😀 Going to put posi in it with more splines, but undecided on the ratio. I loved 3.73's in my 1978 6.6L Trans Am, but it was taching high on the highway, altho it had a TH350 3 speed, and I have the 200-R4 4 Speed... maybe 3.42 or 3.55..
No reason not to run it the way it is (OBD1 included). I'm not a power junkie... the 305 4bbl is fine. However, if the 305 goes t*ts up, I'm contemplating a 383 stroker, 400, or just going all out with a LQ9.. Building the 200-R4 if I go 383/400.. LQ9 would be bought with a trans..
