This thread is actually helping a nearly 60 year old fart to become more organized . . .

Never too old to learn!

The garage is not for household storage or a trash drop off because you don't want to walk all the way to the trash can. You can leave junk in the garage when I can build the engine in the living room.

Not a rule, but an observation: When working on a 30 year old car (my 87 turned 30!) it will speak to you if you listen. If something is going badly, it's telling you that you're doing it wrong.

They have character flaws just like us. I had a car that would break it's windshield if you looked at it wrong, while another could get hit by the space station and be fine.

Finally: I believe cars are Pagans. For the privilege of working on them, they demand a blood sacrifice. It's worth it.

When the wife asks how long it will take, she multiplies my answer by three or four.

Fingers, toes and eyeballs are the most irreplaceable tools I own. Eyebrows and knuckle hair grow back.

Never throw away a pair of shop jeans unless you can put your foot through the knee. Levi's ($40) are for work. Kirkland ($13) are for play. Carhartt's ($60) are for real work.

nothing beats good old common sense
if you need a tool buy it don't borrow it
invest in yourself ...good tools aren't cheep... cheep tools aren't good
do not be afraid to say, I do not know & keep the manual close
Its OK to ask for help... just remember someone helped you

You may change the volume but not the channel on the shop TV.
