lost key need to know if it is a hassel to replace ignition lock & key, I am replacing stering wheel anyway
thank you for responding I think I will just call a lock smith sounds easier also one other ? for u I have deleted the ac & heat box the wiring harness below it can I just take it out or does it have something to do with some thing elseI would have to look at my shop manual but I would imagine it is possible to replace the ignition tumbler without the key. You will have to pull the wheel, the lock plate and then pull out the turn signal switch (not necessary to fish the turn signal switch wiring up out of the column). From there my memory is a little fuzzy. I think the normal replacement proceedure assumes having the key. Hopefully others will chime in. You could also google "replace GM ignition lock without key" and look for a youtube video on a similar era GM column.
Yes, I replaced my ignition tumbler due to not having a key.I would imagine it is possible to replace the ignition tumbler without the key.
