This is your LS Engine Oil Galley flow diagram.
I posted already what I do, I fill the back where the oil pressure sensor is and that fills the filter and the whole top end into the Mains. You can pull that plug on the lower driver's side, the objective of that is the prime the pump. I do that when it's on an Engine stand or if I have the pump in my hands before I install it. Done dozens including fresh new Engines this way, haven't had an issue.
