LT1 in 78 Malibu wiring

This issue might be a good one for a sticky.

Past few years I answered several of similar post for Hot Rodders Forum and the Olds Forum, as did others. Seems to be common issue.
As far as my battery main leads, I am using the LT1 leads so they should be correct gauge no?

I would think so. The main going to the starter is fairly stout. About 3/8 diameter, the one going over to the alternator about 3/16 to 1/4 inch diameter. In Most cases, the wire going to alternator is 10 or 8 guage, but as amp output increases, probably run a 4 gauge wire.

When building wire looms yourself and you are getting larger than 12 gauge, use the tools or similar below with copper crimp on, and heat shrink. End results will look much more professional and much safer.
