Got the pump power supply issue sorted out and was able to start and run it without needing to hot wire the pump. Additionally, we discovered It was running rich and not holding pressure at the rail after shutdown so the assumption was leaky injectors. Pulled the rail with injectors attached and put it under pressure. Sure enough, #1 injector was a gusher. Luckily I have a set of injectors from my 96 vette on the shelf that only have about 50k miles on them. Slapped them in and we're doing much better now. There's a check engine light recurring and I'm gonna tackle that today. Here's a short vid of startup with a few throttle thumps.

Only one leaker. We havent had this thing up to operating temp yet. I still need to get under and look around. There’s a harness plug hanging down unhooked from somewhere. Hanging down below the water pump area.

There are a few easy and good upgrades you can do to the transmission to make it much happier in the long run if you want to go through it before installing it in the wagon.

I would even consider going with a first gear swap depending on how serious you are.

Do you mean changing first gear to a higher ratio?

The loose connector was to the temp sensor in the water pump. After plugging it back in the check engine light went off. Then I unhooked the battery for a few minutes, hooked it back up, restarted the engine and let it idle long enough to reach operating temp. The cooling fans cycled as they should. It was smoothing out nicely for a while then it began to surge up and down in rpm and the check engine light came back on.

I need a scanner for this car. Any recommendations on a lesser expensive way to acquire this ability?

I checked one of the plug gaps and it was in range but still have AC plugs and what looks like the factory ignition wires. I'm pretty sure this thing is going to need plugs, wires and cap at minimum. I'll be taking a close look at the opti too and looking to retrofit the vacuum line to it for moisture control.

I really need scanning ability though.

Good work. After wasting money on crapola scanners I finally realized you need to pay around $200 for a good scan tool. I have the OTC 3111 PRO and the AUTEL Maxi-pro. The OTC is 10 years old but both show real time operating conditions. The one year old AUTEL is self-powered and a little better at some things.

After reading last post on page 5 , I was immediately thinking most likely bad relay, but sounds like you got that figured out. Every connector on a 94' wiring harness could need attention.
For injector cleaner a tech once told me dump 2 cans of chevron tech cleaner in nearly empty tank & immediately drive till near empty (or empty carrying gas can), can give the same amount of concentrate as a fuel rail pressurized container. Something good to do once in a while for maintenance.
