Jack, just cause a car is in Florida don't mean it's a Floridian car. The 95 Caprice wagon I picked up in Jacksonville last month might be clean and rust free low miles, but it was sold new in NY city....

Snow birds.....

Pat
Pat,
It's silly of me to assume that a car residing in a current state originate from that state. My car was originally a New Jersey car, but has been down here in Florida for over 20 yrs...thanks to me.. That's why the amount of rust was minimal.
It stands to reason that cars move around various parts of the country (or world) along with their owners.
For instance, my old Porsche 914 for example was a local car that is going to reside in Germany with it's current owner.

Hello Sebastien,
I'm sorry to hear about your car breaking down. I guess with an older vehicle anything can happen at any time.
Where did you order the replacement parts from, Rockauto?

Did you give Franck your trailer, or are you just storing it there? Neighbors can sometimes be a pain in the *ss.
The tear drop trailers are cool, but small. Our cars can pull them with no problem. They are commonly towed by streetrods.

Hello Jacques,
This is my first car breaking down with the Wagon, but it doesn't no matter it made me so much service 😀

yes, the remplacement parts from Rockauto:
- Distributor Rotor.- Distributor Cap.- ICM.- Ballast.- Oil Filter.- Altrenator. (Delivery in court from Dubuque, IA)

From Ebay in USA: Condenser. (Received in four days from NY)

I always order the USA, if possible shipping to France.
Two things that I could not import: Tires and Battery, then I imported Adapter for battery.
I love it when the packets come from the US. Can you think I'm crazy? But I really like.
I must admit that in France the parts are expensive.
Example: One Oil Filter it is the same price but I prefer to buy in USA. My order by Rockauto is cheaper than the only Alternator in France.(for 1 euros = 1.27 USD)

Yes I gave my Trailer in Franck, it will definitely modified later.

Bon dimanche Jacques

Bon jour Sebastien,
I hope you're doing well. I hope your parts arrive soon so you can get your car back in order. So you actually can buy USA car parts in France? I guess there isn't that many US cars in France, or am I misinformed?
It looks like it's cost effective to buy US car parts in the US than in France.

Bon dimanche

Hello Jack,
Yes, we can buy Parts for American Cars in France, there are several professional Shops (or garage). There are also French who are the bizness they buy and resell the USA in France. At first when I bought my Malibu, I wanted to change the Carburator, I wanted to Rebuilt and a French mister sold me a from a old car rusty for almost the same price
Since that day I learned buy from the USA and it's better for me.

I would say that in France (or all is small) there are still many american cars. But beware, here 97% drive the Sunday with the American car and only by good weather, to go for the meeting.
not me, Not me, I love driving in Malibu 😀
Jack, it is possible that saw from the USA could say that in France they do not have a lot of American cars. You have many many more we and you driving with.

A plus tard my friend.

Sebastian, I understand your attraction for North American cars. I was raised in europe, watched the world go by in the back seat of Renault 8, then a R16, then a Peugeot 304, then VW Golfs before permanently moving to Canada in 84. I loved to watch the big american cars glide past and the sound of the V8s were music to my ears. I was fortunate to have lived in Belgium and Switzerland two countries that did not have an auto industry of their own and seemed to have a larger percentage of north American cars than other European countries. So there were always plenty to see. When I left Geneva in 84 there were a lot of malibu wagons on the roads there.

Bonne nuit

Bon jour Sebastien.
You are a person that certainly gets his use and enjoys using his car. From what you say, most American car enthusiasts in France are people that use their cars mostly for car shows and meets...and take them for a Sunday drive on occasion.
I would think that you get alot of looks from other drivers at your car.

I remember years ago I use to see more French cars on the road. Now I don't even see one. I use to see the usual Renault, Peugeot, Citroen. Not so much anymore.
My friends uncle owned an old Renault Dauphine . It was kind of a cool little bug like car...and a friend of mine owned a Renault Caravelle. Cute little convertible with a removable hardtop. Another guy that I knew owned a Citroen SM which was powered by a 6 cylinder Maserati engine. That was kind of a nice car at the time.
I also had an old friend that owned a Citroen 2CV. That was a funky little car.

I'm glad to hear that buying parts in the US has worked out for you better than buying US car parts in France.

A plus tard mon ami

Hello Pat,
Yes this is true in Switzerland and Belgium there a lot more American cars that in France.
My mother also had a Peugeot 304 2dors.
I think (not sure of myself) in Switzerland there was a Chevrolet plant, closed in recent years.
The VW Golf that are VW Rabbit on the Nord American Cotinent?
Congratulations on the move in Canada. ( I imagine it's much better than in europe)

Good night Pat.

Bonjour Jacques,
I received my parts today.
I also ordered the Starter yesterday.
Saturday day it will mount.

So you ever seen a 2cv, so it's small but I have pictures (in paper no digital) from a 2cv enlarged with a V8 (base buick skylark)
Renault Caravelle (or Floride) are also very rare in France, I saw more Citroen SM but it is as rare. It is hard to find parts for older french cars. 2cv I seen often.

Good night.
A plus tard mon ami.

Bonjour Sebastien.
I'm glad that you got your parts today... 😀 I would like to see the Citroen 2CV with the V-8 engine. I bet it's pretty cool.
The French cars that I mentioned seeing was many, many years ago. I was a much younger man then...
This was also when I still lived in New York. I would imagine that these cars are rare in France.
2CV's were very popular cars in Europe. I've always seen them in old movies from the '60's-'70's.
I will talk to you soon, my friend.

the 2CV were common in the day, no they are being turned into all kinds of cool rides...you mod what you got!

Thanks Pat.
Those are pretty wild looking. They look like the Volksrods which are basically the same type of lay-out using a VW bug body.
The stock 2CV's always appeared to look like they had a high center of gravity.
I like those... 8) very cool.

Thanks again for posting the pics.
