Great looking Wagon. If I had had the chance I would have gotten a Malibu Wagon. What yer plans for her?

406 Small Block Chevy - hoping to run at least 13's.
Weld Racing Wheels 15x4 in the front, 15x8 in the rear.
Lemans Blue paint job, with a lot of metallic flake.
8.5 12 bolt rear end with a 4:10 gear, posi carrier.
Get the 78-81 single head light header panel.

There's a lot I want to do to this wagon... with such little time and money.

Couldn't have explained better myself....

Another question... how do I install the aftermarket gauges that come with the little steel pod? The oil psi, water temp, and the volts? I have no idea. I think I know where the water temp goes.... in the side of the block, correct?

Never enough money lol know how that goes

Unless the frame is damaged, just change the glass itself. It is just set in the frame with a rubber type sheet, not glued in

Usually aftermarket gauges come with some sort of instruction booklet. Are they electric gauges or mechanical? Mechanical are fairly easy, no sending units involved.
The water temp can go in the side of the head. You'll see an inward square headed plug. You can go there, or into the intake manifold. I think usually aftermarket manifolds have an additional plug in one of the water passages. What type of intake do you have?
As for oil pressure..and again, if you have mechanical gauges. At the rear top of the engine near the distributor, there's a sending unit for the oil pressure idiot light. You'll have to install a "T" fitting there. Re-install the sender on top and plumb in the oil pressure line in the vacant hole of the fitting. You'll then have to fish the line thru the firewall and to the gauge.
You might want to get copper tubing to replace the plastic stuff.
The volt gauge should be easy. I think it would come off the alternator. You can try the gauge out by using a few jumper wires with alligator clips. One wire would be your ground, of course. The other would be your + lead to your alternator.
Run the engine and check to see where you're getting your +12 volts...or being that your car is an '83, why not just look for a set of Monte Carlo SS gauges with tach to replace the factory idiot lights.
To do it that way would definitely require getting the factory (Monte SS) sending units.
Just a little food for thought.
