Matching touch up paint - spray can

I vote for getting it mixed or buying a pint of single stage based off the paint code. I've used https://www.automotivetouchup.com/index.htm before with "meh" results. The paint shop pint was much closer in color, although it had a bunch more metal flake in it.

This is the site I was looking at yesterday, was hoping there would be feedback on a specific site(s). I plan to call 1-2 local places and see what they say. I can see a paint place not wanting to bother for a small amount and that's where these sites step in if they specialize in that.

I did buy a $3 can of "smoky beige" at Menards that I planned to test. Satin finish but the color is pretty close. 😊

Color is paint code 63, medium beige.

I’d be painting bumper fillers, one side mirror and possibly a rear wagon spoiler. The car has original paint, I don’t need show quality or blending in panels or anything.
By the time you have a few aerosol cans mixed, you may as well purchase a pint of single stage, reducer, and catalyst and spray the parts with a small, cheap HVLP touch-up gun. Although you should have some extra paint left over, you'll have it for additional touch ups as well.

1980 Code 63 is what I used on my wheels front air dam from AUTOTOUCHUP

i only asked because a solid color(which you have)will be way more forgiving in spray can form vs a metallic,it will atomize fine.I'd weigh the cost differences and go from there.

As Longroof79 said. you have enough to paint to get a pint of real automotive paint. Menards paint does not belong on a car and it will let you know that in a year or so when it starts failing. Find a local automotive paint supplier and take off something small from the car that is the color you want and bring it with you. Have them mix a pint of the code 63 and check it against the part you brought with you. They should have no problems tinting it to get a closer match to your parts if its needed.

That is my thought as well. Buying more than an aerosol spray can for this paint job seems like overkill in effort and money although I appreciate the input. This isn't a show car, it has "patina". If I want a perfect match and this was a nice paint job I would probably just have the parts dropped off to a shop to take care of. The Menards paint is kind of a joke but also a serious idea 😉. I wouldn't do this to my 86'SS or my TBSS with a nice paint jobs, this is just something that is better than having light blue bumper fillers or a maroon side mirror. My thinking is the matching aerosol is still cheap enough to justify on this car, anything more really isn't, someday it will get a nice proper paint job but that would be years away. I'm the guy still running a Goodmark cowl hood on my LS in the original gel-coat finish that's been on the car since about 2010 😀.

When I had my paint made locally by Painters Supply they matched the code of my original paint and I had to buy a pint minimum (automotive grade) and had 4 aerosol cans made, I used it to paint the header panel, front bumper fillers, driver;s side mirror and my decklid inside and out on my 85' Regal which I swapped parts from my brownish 86' Regal and wanted it to match so I could sell it.

w/out getting into a full on body shop thread it's a good idea to have a little more than you think you need.most colors aren't a one coat wonders.depending on what the substrate is made of/current color it may require more to achieve proper hiding.running out or running back to the store to have more mixed just blows.my .02

When I was a kid I watched my new neighbor across the street paint his entire van with a roller in the driveway.
