Mega shifter

New here, I was woundering if anybody had any tips on installing a megashifter into my 79 elky. It was originally a bench seat column shift if now converting to a
Bucket and a floor shift.

First tip: don't throw the backdrive linkage out. It controls your ignition lock and reverse lights.

Mine was originally console mounted. Not any more. You’ll need to do some accurate measuring to get the fore/aft and height correct. See if B&M has model specific instructions to download.

I know that the shifter comes with these little switch for the reverse light and neutral safety switch u think I could just wire those to the shifter.

You could do it that way, but frankly it's easier to use the shifter/ linkage/ backdrive. When I used an aftermarket shifter, I made a wiring harness connected to the the two micro switches for neutral safety switch and backup lights. It required cutting and splicing into the two circuits. I don't like doing it that way.
I also locked the column collar in the park position.
This was a Hurst V-matic shifter. I'm sure they connect the same way.

Ok I see, so any ideas of how I would set up the shifter with stock backdrive?

Jack, after pulling whats left of my hair out with that stupid shifter I wound up buying a relay for the neutral safety. Do you remember how you wired it ? I thought I had the right plug but it wouldnt stop the car from turning over no matter how I ran the two wires.

Yes I bought a console and shifter plate from Dixie Restoration Depot
