As luck would have it I got a new in the box single din stereo my son in-law didn’t want so I think I’ll try to install it . Could use some help identifying the original wires and where they go I don’t have a manual or wiring diagram for this car

Black plug, power: Black-ground, gray-back light/dash lights, yellow-key hot/power
White plug, front speakers: Light green-right +, dark green-right -, tan-left +, gray-left -
Blue plug, rear speakers: Light blue-right -, dark blue-right +, yellow-left -, brown-left +
 
Black plug, power: Black-ground, gray-back light/dash lights, yellow-key hot/power

Blue plug, rear speakers: Light blue-right -, dark blue-right +, yellow-left -, brown-left +
Thanks alot very helpful .going to started on it tomorrow
 
And to save yourself from future headaches get one of those adapter harness for aftermarket radios so you don't hack your original wires.
good point ,can you tell me where to find one ?im also going to try replacing the dash speakers .any advice on that would be helpful

there is a wiring diagram stamped into gm radio. looks like this;

ive got the harness adapter ordered .Went out and pulled the speakers front and rear ,took all of about 15 minutes (real easy on this 80 cutlass) Im tempted to buy the pioneer 4x10"s only because it would be an east install provided the magnets on the back are the same since they have to kind of cradle into the factory bracket. I guess for the sake of argument they call the front speakers 3.5's the originals are actually 3 3/8's.a 3x9 speaker could be used with a little modding in the rear. Ill see whats available locally before i order anything. There is a sturdy metal bracket behind the radio bezel that holds the radio in i will remove that and fab something so i dont have to hack that apart.
