I removed my original 8 track and installed this EQ stereo I had from a Grand National. I had an extra 78 face plate that someone butchered. I traced out the larger opening size from an 86-88 face plate and came up with this.

I would like a spare face plate for mine so I wouldn’t have to cut the original it’s in really nice shape .

Don't forget, with a 1.5 DIN opening, you can go with a Single DIN Head Unit and an old school Pre-Amp/EQ on top of it. Then, you put a sub and amp in the back... 6x9's.. 6" in front... Push around 600W, you will be happy.

....not that I would know anything about that.

(Not my actual set-up, but the same thing, basically)

That’s why I decided not to cut my original radio mount and bezel . My current stereo was free but who knows what else I might do , so I’m fabricating my own bezel for single din .For now ! 🤔

Gorgeous! I have the same on in my '85 Monte.

OP: THIS IS THE RADIO TO INSTALL! It looks clean, has incredible reception and range on AM/FM, you can use a tape adapter for MP3(mine is modified to accept 1/8 stereo cable) and has a big warm sound. Plenty of power.

I use a cassette adapter on mine to plug my phone in to which I stream music or listen to satellite radio. But I agree, the reception and to sound quality is far superior to the earlier oem shaft style stereos.

Question? The yellow wire coming from the new radio requires constant 12 v for memory I assume . Will it get that from the grey power wire in the original harness?

No, tag the orange off the lighter socket. Gray is gauge lights dimmer.
Sorry I’m hung up here just want to get this right . So hook my yellow wire from radio to cigarette light power ? Then red to red from the photo ? The blue wire in the adapter jack is what would go to the grey in the original harness . What would hook to it ?
