Most Unusual G-Body Engine Swap You’ve Ever Seen?

olds307 and 403, agreed. The Gen-V engines are really well-rounded. Lots of power everywhere, fuel-efficient, and refined. If I were going the V-8 route, I might skip all the way to the Gen-V. I'm still a long way from picking out a mill. First step is to get the old 231 at least marginally driveable. Still leaning toward the Caddy LF3 or LF4 turbo six. Actually found one salvage not too far from me for a reasonable price.

Saw a gbody in a pick n pull with a 5.0 mustang engine

My son and I are keeping a lookout for a 2017-up Chevy Cruze Diesel motor to build a Pan American Highway car. We haven't decided on the car, yet, but the new Cruze motor is motor of choice, for now, with ecotec drivetrain swap parts.

Interesting you mention the Cruze diesel engine. I think it might be a little small for something like a G-Body (although it makes more power than most of the factory G-Body engines!) But what I think would be a really cool swap into the G-Body would be that 2.8L Duramax I-4 diesel out of the Colorado/Canyon. 181 hp, 369 lb-ft. Gets around 30 mpg in the trucks, would probably get more than that in a G-Body!

I would bet a few more ponies could be eeked out. The Fiat V6 diesel out of the Dodge 1/2 ton might even be better.

They just announced power figs for that engine in the new Wrangler: 260 hp, 442 lb-ft. That kind of power with 30+ mpg would be quite a combo! I've heard rumors the '19 Silverado will offer a half-ton diesel option. That will be interesting.
