Thank you, that’s exactly the advise I was hoping for.I have Hedan hedders #68310 on the 81 Malibu. The hedmans are short and end at about the back of the torque converter. I have to unbolt the header from the Motor and the exhaust to remove the factory starter and the big oil filter is a little messy to remove and install. On the 78 El Camino I run Flowtech #31104FLT these headers are what I call a true long tube header They end somewhere around the end of the transmission pan. With no starter or oil filter problems. The flowtechs are Ceramic Coated and for the price a great header. IMO if you have the funds get Ceramic Coating, They look way better and last longer.

Also, on the El Camino what style motor mount are you using?
I appreciate your response. I checked out the Flowtechs and those are just what I am looking for.I have stock clam shell motor mounts on both.
