I am installing a 350 sbc into my 81 Malibu. I plan to use ‘clam shell’ mounts. However, I am flexible on using them. So, which header ( brand/model number) do I use with the clam shells or is there a better/easier option?

Its either the stock mounts or solid mounts

As for headers that depends on the engine build and what you plan on using the car for.

I have Hedan hedders #68310 on the 81 Malibu. The hedmans are short and end at about the back of the torque converter. I have to unbolt the header from the Motor and the exhaust to remove the factory starter and the big oil filter is a little messy to remove and install. On the 78 El Camino I run Flowtech #31104FLT these headers are what I call a true long tube header They end somewhere around the end of the transmission pan. With no starter or oil filter problems. The flowtechs are Ceramic Coated and for the price a great header. IMO if you have the funds get Ceramic Coating, They look way better and last longer.

Thank you, that’s exactly the advise I was hoping for.
Also, on the El Camino what style motor mount are you using?
