thanks for the story,i have followed your cutlass build and love it,i've also covered most of 85 cutlass broughams too,but i need an extra hour or two to actually finish it!You do bring inspiriation with that story though,I get a lot of sh*t from dickheads at school and people outside about my car, even my friends rip on me about my car, unless its a mustang, corvette or a ricer celica with a fart can muffler I wont get the admiration of Nice Car,except the two other g body owners where i live and you guys,But at the end of the day,no matter how fast my car is,how pretty it is,how nice the chrome and paint is and the interior is
I'm thankful to have such a nice car,and just like you said i would like to shake hands with all yous here, everyone here is nice and very informative and I glad I had joined this site.I wish I could come to that meet in florida you guys are having in november, but I wouldnt have the time because of school,What'd be great is a huge gbodyforum meet somewhere in the U.S.!BTW I'm actually gonna put my name in the signature box just like you did.

We're all in this together. They help me, I'm glad I can extend that help, and it just keeps getting passed around for whoever needs it. If we can't stick together, we might as well just give em up!

Minion you have a nice car and I envy you for it. My 2 favorite colors for the Cutlass is Black and the Black Cherry. I've always liked Black cars but when I first saw a Black Cherry Cutlass (back when the 86's first came out) I fell in love with that color, too. It'd be nice to find a car with the interior color you want but I wasn't able to. I did find a parts car with the Claret bucket seat interior. So far, that interior is presently going into it's 3rd car. The original 86 it came from the factory in, then into my 84, and now into my originally blue 86.

Thanks to your car and Dudeface, I'm torn between painting mine Black or the Black Cherry. Decisions, decisions... But, that's a good thing!

I've read all the build threads myself and yes, it takes awhile to read 85 Cutlass Broughams. That's why I decided to share my stories, too.

Regardless of the colors, There are a LOT of nice cars on this site and I'm not restricting that to just the Cutlass either. I've drooled over Regals, Gran Prix, Elky's, Monte's, & Malibu's. I couldn't pick a favorite!

I know my thread is a bit long...(OK, it's like reading Tolstoy's "War and Peace"!) Then again, I decided that I would document everything for my own use, and also for the edification of others. I figure by posting the little wiring details, chemicals used, etc. it may help someone else who does not know what or where to get the right stuff to do a certain project. Plus, it accurately depicts what is involved in doing a complete car from the ground up in an accurate light to help someone decide if they wish to do it or not. I am "luckily" coming to an end of this phase of the project. It will be a usable car, except for needing front tires, by the middle to end of September. After that, I will see where it goes.

you should put a poll up between the two colors and see which color gets the most votes,I obviously would say burgundy,I think its a good color on a cutlass. When I first got my 86 cutlass supreme a while back,it was faded burgundy metallic,it got sold, then I bought my present car the 86 cutlass salon ALSO in burgundy metallic. It looks excellent in my opinion, they have a more eyecatching appearance because you dont see many burgundy cutlasses(at least I dont)so I thought of it as being a rare color.

Hi Chris, glad to meet you! I have thought about putting up a poll. Think I will. Thanks.

Well, I'm so impressed with this site I can't believe it took me so long to get over here.
I haven't read a single slam against anyone, everyone is pleasant all the time and the knowledge base is there and growing.
I will also add my name and my usual sig, as I like this idea.

I really relate to you Doug, being that I'm 40 and have experienced some humbling over the last couple of years. Particularily, the change in work and income.

Chris, I know what you mean about not much respect for the car. I get alot of compliments about this new car, but nobody I know really takes any interest in my love for these cars. So I'm kinda on my own, save for the decent guys on forums like these, who are the only ones with any interest in what I have to say about the car.

I'm still a newt when it comes to mechanics but I love being able to help anybody when it comes to these cars.

Now, if I can just figure out how to get a pic of my car down to 10kb in size so I could have an avatar, I'd be happy. I've tried everything but can't get smaller than 16kb and the pic is smaller than a thumbnail 😳

Well, you haven't seen what happens when someone tries any douchebaggery on here. It is not well tolerated and people who are *ssh*les, racists, or use excessive profanity are told to leave. Most people understand civility, and as long as they use common sense they are welcome here. Disagreement is fine, but it should be generally respectful. We have heated political discussions in the Off Topic section, but those who choose to enter there understand what they are getting themselves in to.

Lol, it is refreshing, even compared to some of the 'other' modded sites.

Anyways, back to Doug's car.........I wish I had kept a dash from one of my previous cars. All my Cutlii had Claret interiors, I was getting sick of it  but all the dashes were good. We get more moisture issues up here than sun/cold issues.
Do you have need of a NOS claret console shift grip by chance?

Edit: I guess not since it's manual eh? 😳
