Looks good.

The Drag Stars look tight. What radiator/mount did you use?
I ordered the top plate off of gbodyparts!

Lucky to find an 8.5" up here.... hard to find.... Where'd you get that one from?
Believe it or not I bought it off of kijiji, it was located in Red Deer, had a buddy pick it up for me!

Nice score! Car is coming along nicely, you'll need an upgraded rear end to get all that power down....

This is an awesome build keep up the good work!
Thanks man I appreciate it, the rear end should hopefully be in by the end of the month. Just ordered a nice shiny girdled cover and rear fire wall panels off of gbodyparts. Hopefully they get here soon! Cant wait to see what she'll do in the 1/4 mile.

WOW its been a while!!! After a VERY eventful summer I am back, with updates!

Where to start...

Ran into a few issues and setbacks with my car. Most have been resolved and fixed. The first one being that my fuse for my turn signals/reverse lights kept blowing. After going through the whole wiring circuit in the car, I traced it to the micro switch in my b&m shifter that activates the reverse lights. Wasn't a very happy camper!!

Next, I managed the blow the head gaskets.. Don't ask me how, I never found the issue. After machining the heads down a little bit I had the top end back together along with some Scorpion 1.5 roller rockers and a set of pushrod guide plates.

Heres some pictures:

Tearing the top end of the motor off...

My findings...

Some markings on the head I had machined out. I found this on both heads present on cyl 5,6,7,8. The motor has never overheated nor has it been over 185F..

I used ARP head studs when I put everything back together, Its a decision I regret. I did everything by the book, followed the instructions exactly as stated and this is what happened..

The coolant was actually coming up through the threads of the stud..

My fix for this problem? Pull out all of the studs and replace with bolts. The bolts have a small "shoulder" that completely stops this from happening.

Thanks to "Elcaminodan" I scored a set of 84-87 tail lights.

Thanks to gbodyparts I had myself a firewall to make me legal at the track! Too bad not all the fasteners were included. Nothing a run to the hardware store couldn't fix.

FINALLY got to make a couple passes on the last street legal event of the season!! I'm #770, you can see my times getting better.

All I need now is a carrier and a gear set then she should be ready to bolt in. Still toying around with the idea of installing some coil overs in the rear. I'll probably just do some helper bags in the rear for this years race season.

Im a bit concerned with how you had coolant coming up the threads of the bolts? Considering if the head gaskets are doing there job, there should be ZERO coolant able to enter the bolt "passage", as the bolts dont enter the water jacket. So im not so sure where your getting the coolant from? Unless the head gasket is leaking again and its seeping past? Or perhaps it was just residual left in the holes?

Also, what was the piston to head clearance? looks as if that edge of the piston was touching the head? Or its detonating severely. You should be able to hear it ping with all of that.

The head bolts do go into the water jacket and need sealant on them. Very nice build 81 - w/ 486 HP you should be running about 11 flat. It
takes about 340 HP to run 12.40's
