Car covers ruin paint where i live because its so damn windy everyday haha A car cover ruined the edges of my vinyl top on my cutlass so now i have to get it replaced...so no tarps or car covers for me.
I put the tarp over the front of the car from the top of the windshield forward because the front end was all finished. I had my knee operated on and I couldnt finish everything on the 81 as planned so I could get both cars in my garage. It sat on the stands through the whole NY winter. The parts painted with the SEM Hot Rod Black held up well but anything sprayed with rattle can paint turned to crap. It sucked pulling it all apart again. Last time though. LOL
Making a little progress with the interior. I spoke to the woman at SEM today and shes going to match the color of the vinyl sample that I sent her and also match the dark gray thats on the glove box door I pulled off the donor 86 Cutlass that was in the local yard. Typical dark gray that GM used in a lot of cars but it looks real good with the Presidio Gray that I used on the rest of the plastic. I should have the Color Coat here by the 24th. Thats going to be a busy week. The duct is already in. I'll just have to respray the dash and bezels.
I really didnt want to dye the vinyl on top of the rear doors but I dont have a choice. The pieces are off of both doors and cracked. I think the glued on vinyl is the only thing holding them together. LOL I hope it looks okay after I spray them.
The front seat was pretty much finished but it turns out the sleeve for the drivers headrest was played out and it had to be replaced. Of course this was discovered AFTER the seat was reupholstered so the covers coming off that side.
The carpet might be going in next week if my buddy has some free time to help me. He has a professional steamer. Made doing the carpet in the 81 really easy.
Ive got a few friends waiting to help me get the motor back in. Once the interior is a little more finished and I can get some moving around room back in my garage thats going to be the next job.

A little more progress made today folks ! I wrote on the FB wagon page that Anne Zoelle from SEM is amazing and after thinking about it thats an understatement. She did an awesome job mixing the color for the strips on the top of the rear door panels. She matched the vinyl from the seat 100%. She got my samples on Tuesday and I had them and the color coat back here in NY yesterday afternoon. By the time UPS came she had already left for the day so I have to call her Monday morning and tell her how pleased I am. This woman deserves a raise !

The shop called me this morning to tell me the headliner and visors are finished so I'll be going out there Monday to get them.
They still have to do the front door panels and they might be taking the front seat back apart. Seems they might have stained the cloth when they put the cover on. The guy said they used steam on the foam and it looks like it darkened the cloth. You can see it on the back and along the edge of the bottom. Looks like sh*t. I hope they still have enough cloth left to redo it.

Got most of the dash sprayed today. I bought a qt directly from SEM and they matched the inside of a glovebox door that I pulled off a Cutlass thats been a donor car for my interior cloth choices. The armrest is the interior color. I hope its going to look good.

Thanks Jim. The armrest actually looks a little lighter than it really is. I learned a new word from the woman at SEM. Metameric. A color that changes in different lighting and direction. The gray fern was even worse. Looked gray one way, green in another.
Im waiting for Scott to post a comment. I think he was looking to do a color change on his interior. He'll be able to see what it looks like ! LOL

More progress guys !!
I just said this to Jack in an email. Putting a headliner in is a b*tch. I had help on Wednesday with the large piece. I started doing the rear piece yesterday and it wasnt going well. I had to remove the rear interior panels to get the D pillars out so I could line up and install the metal headliner trim. I wish I knew that ahead of time. I would have left it all apart. Live and learn.
Also the shop left about 3/4" of excess material at the end that butts up to the front and I was afraid to cut it off thinking it would be an issue. I couldnt snap the plastic trim in. I wound up using masking tape to hold it down to the back of the cardboard panel so it would fit.
