picked up my MCSS steering box today from autozone, they took my stock box as a core so in total price came out to 127 and some change.. This was the cheapest of all major chains I found on price for the box and cheapest for the core as well.. It even cost less than there stock replacement so this is a good upgrade for anyone.. You will have to order it from them it is part num. 6561 and comes with a lifetime warranty
rich, The headers n exhaust look nice as does the adjustable uppers and lower control arms in that pic. I bought the Edelbrock double adjustable uppers and love them. Great price for doubles as well. Shocks.. I didn't like the KYBs I bought new. But you would not be disappointed in Bilistein or Edelbrock ISAs. In fact you will be so impressed you may think the first time you fly through some rough as a cob dammit I took that too short again curve where the hell did this BMW I'm driving come from. lol 8)

im hoping it will especially with all the $ I have dumped into it...last time I really drove this car (I'm taking about like a good cruise or something not just around the block at low speed which is all I have done) every time i hit a curve i would dam near end up in the passenger seat
Well today must have been my lucky day today, because I was able to find the intake set up I always wanted!!! on top of that it was half off day at the junk yard so I got it for cheap $24 for the air cleaner assem. and the two plastic pieces...
I'm going to make a couple mods to it then send it out for chrome.. I also need to find the ducts or make my own if their too expensive..Any ideas?
Also picked up my new Intreped dual electric fan set up and radiator hold down plate, man those things move some air and are really low profile, i took both of the stock relays and they use 40 amp fuses each..Now I just got to get a fan switch and some wire and get everything all in. All in all it was a good day today
should look something like this but maybe in chrome, still need to decide, but also just realized im missing the two plastic pieces that come of the air cleaner..damn
Rich, you could check spectre's online catalog . They have polished aluminum pipe in straight &angled sections, rubber connectors, etc. Not sure what diameter you need 3.5" to 4" maybe.. As far as the air cleaner exit itself, measure the external circomference with a piece of string & divide that number by 3.1416, this will give you the I.D. needed for a round rubber connector or metal pipe to be reshaped oval & fit over it.
This is basic sheetmetal work that a sheetmetal shop that can do AC duct work could help you with if it,s not in your skill level to make something custom or if you can,t find what you want premade. If I were doing the project, I might make a wood form the shape I want & hammerform Sheet aluminum over the top & bottom of the form , trim , & tigweld together. Yeah, a lot of work, But something to make people say DAMN THAT's NICE when you open the hood.
Hopefully this gives you some different thoughts. :?
DAMN DUDE!!!
killer el camino. i have an 85 monte ss, and seeing the entire thread inspires me. theres a huge difference from the beginning of the thread to the end. everything looks really clean/sharp.
im going to need a new steering box at some point. let me know how yours works out.
HEY rich thanks for the controls arms... after i got off work i put them on and put the body on the frame and moved the car LOL it was alot of work especially with no front suspension.. and ur el camino lookin really nice i cant to roll out there in my car
Finally got around to putting my new rims on the elco Courtesy of HKDUP87, really like how they look in front of the blazer brakes and now i don't have to worry about filling up my tires every couple of days.
Still need to install the transgo reprogramming kit and GN D5 converter and fix a couple leaks...get better shocks....and i'm also looking for a set of aluminum drums so I can finish up my rear brake upgrade using the larger s10 wheel cylinders and shoes with more contact area.
