My daughter just said " Daddy don't make that noise again". I made some kind of noise when I saw that pic. It turned every head in the house. Looks like you're gonna have fun. How much did you spend If you don't mind me asking? Looks really good!
Thanks for your comments guys the stuff is super nice and nothing looks cheap or chincy. I would definately recommend these guys for parts.
The entire set up cost me $1690.67 shipped to my door step. They were running a big sale over the Thanksgiving weekend so I decided to take advantage of it and saved about $300 on everything.
Looks sharp. Hmnn on the rear upper control arms I would check see if they have an upgrade for double adjustable uppers. You can use them to set the pinion angle or center point which will help the car plant the tires and hook instead of unloading the rear and spinning. At least if you plan to have some power under the hood. I used the Edelbrocks which was also red. Double adjustable makes it easy to adjust on the car as you may not get it ideal the first try and or later may run tires that are a different height. Poly end links are a great bang for the buck item and the factory ones are often shot on these cars. So is an air bag (in the coil) at least in the passenger side rear. A few pounds on it or more on the passenger side then drivers side will pre load the suspension so that both tires get the same down force or traction. Have fun and thumbs up.
Thanks for the insight, I did consider getting adjustables Spohn does sell them. I do have a bit of power under the hood but I didnt really feel it necessary. Im not racing the car or really beating on it. I just wanted to replace everything for safety reasons being that its all original and make the car handle a little better while still maintaining a stock looking stance. All of the components came with greasable poly bushings, and poly end links for the front sway bar. I think this setup wil be plenty good enough for what I do with the car.
Finished puttin the Spohn suspension in a few days ago and took the 442 for a ride while the roads were dry and man is there a big difference between the Spohn components and stock!!! the car feels 100x tighter and handles like a dream! If anyone is looking for suspension upgrades I would definately recommend contacting them. Everything fit like a glove with no problems and for the size of the project it was a fairly easy install. The 442 now handles as well if not better than my fathers 03 GT Mustang with just under 11000 miles on the clock. It feels like a brand new vehicle but with old shool styling!
Man very nice work I love the lope of the cam when its idling and that suspension looks great. I'm doing a 442 clone with my 88 Classic Brougham....dropping a 350SBC chevy in over the summer and getting it repainted...your thread really gave me some motivation and ideas 🙂
I used a jegster crossmember for a 700R4 and a T5 fivespeed out of a 86 camaro. I had the 700R4 in there before but scattered it. Wished I would have gone a with a stronger trans but I should have researched better...
