Would be great to see the plugs at the end of the run. But that's such a PITA - pulling plugs at the end of the track or coast down area.

Plugs were better... This is an hour to and from the track, 3 runs, on pump 93.

i thought I had the tune nailed; it runs great by the ear and butt dyno. Numbers don't lie, though.

Where do you have your timing at now? I also went by the butt dyno, 38 felt faster than 36 on the street, it was slower at the track, as was 34. Of course aluminum heads along with your much more aggressive cam probably changes the sweet spot.

There's a gorgeous '67 ragtop here in town, Q-Jet, TH400, air, windows, seats, SSIIs, turquoise with matching guts and white top. I am praying for it to come up for sale. Originally a Portland, OR, car - which is about as healthy a climate as you can get - no salty roads, minimal sun damage to the soft bits.

Total timing has a fairly wide 'sweet spot'. For instance the difference between 30 and 40 total degrees on about any engine is less noticeable than the difference between 10 and 20 initial degrees. I keep my 500 at 16 + 18 = 34 total. Starts good, drives good, runs out good...…with no knock. My Buick 455 ran best ETs at 23 + 11 = 34 total. I can't imagine the Olds 455 needing any more than 34 total, I'd just get the initial where you like it at the track.

Your results may vary as I have friends who think they pick up 75hp by going from 36 to 38 on a SBC.

What distributor are you running?

Timing is locked at 35 with a 6AL, Blaster 2, and Pro Billet distributor.
The oil is a long story, but the short version is that there's .002 too much bore.
I'm more concerned about it not hooking when I dump the clutch.

Went to test and tune last Friday night with less than stellar results. It was crowded, and I only got 3 runs in. I went out and bought new full metal lock nuts this evening; got the 4 frame side rears left to do. If I could only wean myself from drilling the tree, I might be able to get off the line. Nevertheless, there's daylight under the tire on a 2.0 60'. I spent the evening replacing all the control arm nuts with new self locking and red LocTite. Constructive criticism welcomed....

Too much power launching, lacking grip launching or a combination of both is
my opinion.

It looks like if you launched softer you would go faster (less tire spin).
Looks very good past the 330.

Can you drop the timing when you launch With your MSD setup to cut power With a time delay?
