BUILD THREAD My last elkie

Thanks Sweet Johnny for your insight. Also thanks to you Mellow Elky. I would have a hard time moving forward without the help of our online members. 565 Big block, you started all this. Posting your purchase of a set of NKB heads. I started looking into Skip White. Their shop is immaculate, they have two engine dyno stalls, and at least two of everything any engine builder could ever need... Line hones, balancers, polishers, and a dedicated staff of at least 30 people that I saw while visiting including at least four people in their head shop, about 8 to 10 people in the engine building area. I was allowed to watch a dyno session on a "small" 528 Chevrolet big block naturally aspirated put out 829 horsepower on the first full pull. After some carb jetting it knocked down 851 horsepower. I've been in many shops over the years theirs is one of the nicest and cleanest I have ever seen.

Okay guys, so I got these speedmaster rocker arms in my hand, and they are pretty. However, I have give them the field test (feel test) and I am not impressed. The fulcrum roller needles are not as smooth as I would expect, and the nose roller has a slight more side to side clearance than I like. We will see how a set of comp pro magnums feel.

That right there is not what I would've guessed based upon what I've read, perhaps things are better. I have faith in your decision making skills and believe you'll get the results you're after, proven by your choice to potentially pass on the SpeedMaster rockers.

Okay I've got these speedmaster rockers in my hand. No problem sending them back. I have seen some feedback on the comp rockers and some feedback on the lash holders. I'm starting to pay a lot more attention to the details. Has anybody looked into the Elgin brand of stainless rockers. I'm curious, I have used Elgin brand products on numerous imports, never had a problem. If anybody has a opinion or use the products let me know, thanks guys!

Well, here's the deal. I just ordered a set of Elgin stainless rockers 7/16 1.6 ratio. Yeah, I know I still have the speed master rockers sitting in front of me, lol. I'm doing this for you guys, and myself. I'll let you know, it will be a day or three.

I for one appreciate you spending the money so I don't have to. I have no issues with Elgin but can't say I've used their roller rockers.

And just so everybody understands, just because comp is the biggest supplier of cams and parts out there yeah okay not that impressed even though I do have a full comp cam and lifter set in my 383. Small nose short base circle. Spider setup.
