Ill run a rear wheel housing of course, however like pontiacgp said ill leave it with no lip so it looks like they did back then. Man how the sport has changed just look at those videos compared to now. Wish it was still like that today just with todays safety. Those pit guys aren't wearing anything but a jumpsuit. Plan is to put a fuel cell in the trunk area and hang it down just a bit like they did. I think ill try and leave the fuel port behind the plate though. The cage shouldn't be a problem after I get this thing stripped down

when we raced G bodies we cut the roof off to install the cage and then welded the roof back on. If you planning on leaving the dash in place I'm not sure how you will install the front hoop if that is in your plans. These race cars are meant to look great from the stand but close up they are not that pretty, unless it was a display model. With the higher caliber race cars with the fiberglass bodies look better until the race begins..

I don't plan to leave the dash in place, the entire interior will come out and after the cage is in ill be making a race inspired aluminum dash to take its place, and of course narrow and tuck the bumpers lol

I don't think radius on the wheel wells will be that bad. Cutting wheel, and rent one of those tools that bolts on the hub and lets you roll the quarters. They had quite a bit of flare on the grand national series cars. Another thing I'd consider is tucking the bumpers, Dave Marcis and Earnhardts cars had the bumpers raised up and shoved back into the header panel. Here are two clips from Dave Marcis' win with a Malibu

This is when Nascar was racing. Can't stand today's racing. It's like watching an old IROC race every weekend. They've taken the adjustability away from the teams.

that is why they painted the seats different colors so when you see the stands on TV it looks like they are full. One of the series I crewed on was Nascar affiliated so I had to pay for my Nascar crew licence each year and got a few sticker and a tie pin for it. A friend of mine drove in the Nationwide series and Nascar trucks until his sponsorship money ran out then he was replaced with someone who brought in higher paying sponsors. He could have driven Cup if he had the sponsors, it has little to do with driving ability anymore

I think "the car of tomorrow" killed an ailing entity off. Stickers do not a Chevy/Ford/Toyota make...even though most new cars all look alike anyway.

Don't forget that they were trying to make it into a "ball sport" the chase & a post season. They should of just left the southern pride in the racing.
