Here too...Im actually sitting on a TBI 350,from a dying B-Body.

You do sound serious,hmmm...
I was serious. Vortecs have crack prone heads and block, flimsy tiny intake bolts, horrible factory injection design, plastic one time use timing covers etc

If you're referring to the spider injectors, I agree.

I just had a great idea for my Vortec. I'll get the Jeg's carbureted intake to fit Vortec heads and then use an adapter plate to put the TBI on it. I'm sure I'll need a tune to run a larger cam though.
That's actually the way to go. TBI 454s gave the adapter you need. Gmpp also has a vortec head specific intake for TBI vehicles. Friend had one on his 89 silverado. With headers and stock TBI tune his wheel HP was slightly higher the the donor vortec 350s crank hp

But that power increase...

Look to Harris TBI for great tunning tips, and chips...

For the work to convert vortec heads to adjustable lifters, machine for a bigger cam, magnaflux, plus cost of heads and a matching intake you aren't far from the cost of cheap aluminum heads

The GMPP intake is well over $400. That kinda kills the budget build theme I'm going with. It'll have to be a $130 Jeg's intake and an adapter plate for me.

I think they are pretty respectable right out of the box.

If you hold off I may be able to get the intake off his. I believe he wrecked it

I'd never bolt on a set without any of the stuff listed
I still feel the heads are a great value,Ive read several times, that they are the best flowing, iron heads,Chevy ever made. The deal breaker,is those intakes, pretty salty!
