No need to machine. Run beehive springs and comp retainers.

If you hold off I may be able to get the intake off his. I believe he wrecked it

Standing by. It'll be a little bit before I'm ready to drop the Vortec in. I've got to make sure the transmission is gonna work and I'm moving soon.

I live in PA, so my state does require emissions testing,. The original v6 was efi from the factory, so I'm guessing at the very least I'd need a different fuel pump.
Before you decide on what route to go I would find out what is needed for your car to pass an emission test in your state with a legal swap and if they do a visual inspection.

Ok, I slept on it. I think I've decided to go with the crate 350 still. Other than the fact that I need to finance and don't have the money sitting there to buy a used motor, the new engine coming with a warranty gives me peace of mind. Having to do the swap over again in a year or two because the used engine sh*t's the bed is not what I'm looking for. Hopefully I can get 5000-10000 miles out of the transmission before that goes too and forces me to upgrade, since I plan to use my factory 3 speed for the time being. I do thank everybody for their advice though. I honestly got more support and more of my questions answered than I had hoped. I'll make sure to take before/after pictures and post them to the forum.
