got it fixed, put in a 160 thermostat and now its running 175 and 180 but its also only about 40 degrees out right now

I agree with jrm81bu .......if it's only 40 outside and the car is running 180 with a 160 thermostat I wouldn't be so quick to consider it fixed...

guess i will just have to wait and see untill it warms back up in april or may

no need to wait to find out what the problem is...and it can only get worse and possibly leave you stuck on some cold nite.

Take the old stat and put it in a pot of water and heat it up with a candy thermometer and watch when it opens and closes. It's amazing how many are bad right out of the box.
